Coastal Hazard: High Surf Advisory

Big waves and rip currents will present a danger this morning.

The National Weather Service has put a high surf advisory into effect until 11 am today. High surf will continue to affect west to northwest facing beaches this morning. Surf will average 6 to 8 feet on exposed west to northwest facing beaches through late morning and then will subside. The NWS advises that very strong rip currents and high surf will make ocean activities hazardous for anyone. High surf will also produce localized beach erosion.

The NWS forecast calls for sunny, breezy and cool weather for the next few days:

Today: Mostly sunny, with a high near 58. Breezy, with a northwest wind 5 to 10 mph increasing to between 15 and 20 mph. Winds could gust as high as 30 mph.
