Dine-In Movie Theatre To Open in Marina del Rey Next Week

Theatre will feature catered dining service, cocktails, beer and wine.

The AMC Marina 6 will offer an extensive menu and cocktails for moviegoers when it opens its doors on Dec. 3

The theatre will offer seat-side service and spots can be reserved online. The AMC Marina 6 is part of the $25 million Villa Marina Marketplace redevelopment that has been in construction since earlier this year and will be the first AMC dine-in theatre in Southern California.

Audience members must be at least 21-years-old, and the auditoriums will feature reclining seats with space for food dishes and drinks.

At the moment, Marina del Rey does not have a movie theatre, as the Regal Cinema, located at 4335 Glencoe Ave., unexpectedly closed Nov. 2. The Regal’s lease expired and despite an effort to renew the lease, the building will be demolished and used for a different purpose, according to a Regal Cinema spokesperson.

In addition to AMC Marina 6, the redevelopment of the 419,000-square-foot Villa Marina Marketplace includes Gelson’s Market, Sport Chalet and Barnes & Noble.

AMC currently operates 10 dine-in theaters throughout the country that serve pub-style food such as mozzarella sticks, buffalo wings, burgers and fries as well as entrees such as salmon and steak. Popcorn and sodas will still be available.

The theatre is set to open Dec. 3. Tickets are expected to cost a couple of dollars more than at traditional AMC theaters.
