New Jersey Mike's Subs Set to Open

The franchise will open next week on Lincoln Boulevard.

A new Jersey Mike's Subs will soon open in Marina del Rey.

The franchise will open a new location at 4020 Lincoln Blvd. with the official grand opening scheduled for next week.

It will mark the seventh location for franchise owner Alvara Garcia. He opened his first Jersey Mike's in Rancho Cucamonga last summer, he said. He hopes the same things that attracted him to the franchise will help bring customers to the restaurant.

"I love the brand," Garcia said. "The product, itself, sold me. The whole scenario sold me, great customer service."

Garcia said he is especially excited about the Marina del Rey location.

"I think it's a different culture than the other stores that have been open," he said. "I haven't had any stores close to the beach."

Garcia, who also owns 14 Domino's Pizza locations with a group of business partners, said the nice thing about Jersey Mike's is that, unlike Domino's Pizza which delivers, there is more interaction with the customers.

"I like meeting people from different cultures and learning the culture of Jersey Mike's," he said.

He invested $300,000 in the new Marina del Rey restaurant. The franchise specializes in submarine sandwiches, including sandwiches served the popular "Mike's Way,"  with a signature blend of olive oil, vinegar and spices as well as onions, lettuce and tomatoes.

As part of next week's grand opening, the franchise will fundraise by offering free subs with a coupon and a donation of at least one dollar to benefit Westside Global Awareness Magnet School and Venice High School.

"One of the things I like is to help the community," Garcia said. "It is good to get involved with the kids."

Rachel-Ann Levy, director of communications and operations for the , said Jersey Mike's Subs is a welcome addition to the area's "fast, casual dining restaurants."

"We support any and all new businesses in the Marina," Levy said. "Jersey Mike's will add tremendous diversity to the area and will be a lovely addition to the culinary landscape."

The official grand opening for Jersey Mike's Subs is scheduled for Wednesday, June 13, and the store will be open seven days a week.
