What's Up: LAX Airport Commission, School Vaccines, Bank Robbery

Five things to start off your Wednesday in Marina del Rey.

Here are five things to start off your Wednesday in Marina del Rey:

  1. Mayor Eric Garcetti appointed four women and three men Tuesday to serve five-year terms on the city's Airport Commission, which oversees Los Angeles International Airport, L.A./Ontario International Airport and the Van Nuys Airport. See our full story on Marina del Rey Patch today.
  2. As thousands of children returned to school today, county health officials urged parents to make sure their kids are up-to-date on immunizations.   Kindergarten students must show proof that they have received five vaccines that protect against diphtheria, tetanus, acellular pertussis, chickenpox, measles, mumps, rubella, Hepatitis B and polio. New seventh-graders must have a single booster vaccination for tetanus, diphtheria and acellular pertussis.
  3. Weekly television ratings are out and CBS was the most-watched network for the seventh consecutive week and its serialized drama "Under the Dome'' the most-viewed program for the sixth time in the seven weeks it has aired, despite Time Warner Cable's blackout of the network to 3.2 million households.
  4. In Westside news, Police sought three men who robbed a OneWest Bank
branch in the West Los Angeles area at gunpoint Tuesday. No one was injured in the heist, which occurred shortly after 9 a.m. at 11310 National Blvd., said Los Angeles police Officer Bruce Borihanh of the Media Relations office. The suspects, at least one of whom was armed, entered the bank, demanded money and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash, Borihanh said. Their descriptions were not released.
  5. It will be typical Southern California weather on Wednesday with patchy fog and clouds in the morning and increasing sun in the afternoon. The high will top out at 72 degrees in Marina del Rey with an overnight low of 64 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.
