$300K Worth of Pot Found in Suitcases at LAX

The pot was found in four checked bags headed for Atlanta.

By City News Service

About $300,000 worth of pot was found in four checked bags at Los Angeles International Airport Wednesday, but the passengers to whom they belonged never got on the Atlanta-bound flight, a spokesman for the Transportation Security Administration said.

The roughly 100 pounds of pot was detected in Terminal 1 about 5:15 a.m. in suitcases and wrapped with green cellophane and gift paper with a cupcake print, Nico Melendez of the TSA said.

The passengers to whom the bags belonged never got on their Air Tran flight, which was going to Atlanta, he said, adding that law enforcement officers had yet to track them down.
