Community Center Boasts New Martial Arts Studio

Venice Japanese Community Center implements sustainable elements into its new design. It also adds a new martial arts studio, classrooms and offices to the existing architecture.

Looking for a place to practice Kensyobudo, the Japanese art of sword fighting?

Well, the Venice Japanese Community Center recently underwent some major rennovations that included a spacious martial arts studio.

Cuningham Group Architecture also added a second story of masonry-reinforced classrooms and offices to the existing one-story, wood structure, according to a press release from the design firm.

Some sustainable features were also implemented into the design of the new architecture, including low-flow plumbing fixtures, minimal air-conditioning, natural cross-ventilation and draught-resistant plants.

Are you a fan of Kensyobudo? If not, what do you use the community center for? Tell us in the comments.
