Daily Rainfall Record Set Thursday in Los Angeles

The National Weather Service said Thursday was only the third time in more than 130 years that L.A. saw rain on July 11.

A record rainfall of 0.04 inches was set in downtown Los Angeles Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.

The old record of 0.03 inches was set in 1969.

It's only the third time since 1877 that downtown L.A. has received measurable rain on this date, the NWS reported. 

Light rain fell all across the Los Angeles area Thursday, including approximately 0.02 inches in Marina del Rey.
