Playa Vista Farmers' Market

When: Saturday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Where: 6400 Seabluff Dr, Playa Vista, CA 90094

Why: Chef Judy from Mendocino Farms in Marina del Rey will offer up a cooking demo at 11 a.m. to show you how to prepare summer strawberry salad, fattoush salad and cilantro spinach pesto. She'll be using ingredients from the farmers' market, including: spinach (Vang Farms), arugula (Scarborough Farms), strawberries (Castellano Farms), organic heirloom tomatoes (Summer Harvest), oranges (Arnett Farms), organic lemons (Ace Ranch) and olive oil (Olive Press).

There's live music at 10 a.m. before the cooking demo and there also will be raffles for free lunches at Mendocino Farms.

This is a Certified Farmers' Market sponsored by Sprouts of Promise Foundation, a 501(c) 3 non-profit focused on the education of healthy eating habits.  Visit www.playavistaFM.com for more information.

Freshwater Marsh Interpretive Tour

When: Saturday, 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Where: , 303 Culver Blvd, Playa Del Rey, CA 90293.

Why: See a wonderful variety of birds, learn about native plants and how the freshwater system works. Great fun for anyone.

Price: Free. Must fill out and sign waiver form.

Open House at the Salt Marsh and Dunes

When: Saturday, 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Where: , 303 Culver Blvd, Playa Del Rey, CA 90293.

Why: This is a self-guided tour of the salt marsh and dunes where visitors are free to walk on trails unescorted, with docents at various stations to explain the sights.

Price: Free.

Grand Opening of the Marchese Fine Arts at Fishermans Village

When: Saturday, 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Where: 13763 Fiji Way, Marina Del Rey, CA 90292 (Marchese Fine Arts at Fishermans Village).

Why: Get in on the ground floor and celebrate the opening of Marchese Fine Arts gallery in Fisherman's Village. You can meet the owner and featured artists.

Moonlight on the Marsh

When: Saturday, 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Where: , 303 Culver Blvd, Playa Del Rey, CA 90293 (Discovery Park)

Why: Come to the Ballona Discovery Park for the 6th Annual Moonlight on the Marsh to honor their partners Friends of Ballona Wetlands, Loyola Marymount University, and Playa Vista. The proceeds from the 6th Annual Moonlight on the Marsh celebration will go to Friends of Ballona Wetlands.

Fisherman's Village Weekend Concert

When: Saturday, 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Where: , 13755 Fiji Way, Marina Del Rey, CA 90292.

Why: Listen to the American music of Hound Dog Dave & The Meltones at this free outdoor concert in Marina del Rey's Fisherman's Village. Parking is validated with purchase.

2011 Marina del Rey Summer Concerts- Pop Saturdays featuring Aimee Mann

When: Saturday, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Why: The Marina del Rey Summer Concerts presents Pop Saturdays and the featured artist is alternative-rock, folk-pop singer-songwriter Aimee Mann.

Salt Marsh and Dunes Tours

Why: Come to the Ballona Wetlands for the Salt Marsh and Dunes Tours. This is an informative nature tour of the salt marsh and dunes. Learn about our coastal ecosystem and explore the wonders of nature right in the middle of urban Los Angeles

Fisherman's Village Weekend Concert

Why: Enjoy the Latin jazz of Bob DeSena in a pleasant outdoor setting at the marina.

Jazz Sunday at Brennan's Pub

When: Sunday, 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Why: Check out the No Static Trio + at this bar that was recently named one of the best bars in the country by Esquire magazine.
