Health Department Issues Warning for Mother's Beach

Health Department warns swimmers not to enter the water at Mother's Beach in Marina del Rey.

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health indicated on Wednesday that swimmers should avoid a stretch of a Marina del Rey Beach due to high bacteria levels in the water.

According to the health department's website, the public should avoid contact with the water within 100 yards of the lifeguard tower at Mother's Beach in the marina.

The health department said that current bacteria levels in the water at the beach do not meet state bacteriological standards. Warning signs have been posted in the area to warn swimmers not to enter the water.

The L.A. County Health Department regularly monitors bacteria levels at beaches across the county. For current beach conditions, visit the health department's website.
