LAX Pylons to Remain Purple Tonight in Honor of Alzheimer's Action Day

Alzheimer's affects 5 million Americans, and 600,000 of them are in California.

The iconic multihued pylons at the gateway to Los Angeles International Airport will stay purple tonight, because today is Alzheimer's Action Day in California.

Alzheimer's affects 5 million Americans, and 600,000 of them are in California, said Susan Galeas, who heads the California Southern Chapter of the National Alzheimer's Association.

The group maintains a 24-hour helpline at (800) 272-3900, or at www.alz.org.
