The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County fell Wednesday for the seventh consecutive day, dropping 1 cent to $4.346, one day after decreasing seven-tenths of a cent.
The average price is 6.1 cents less than one week ago, but 13.9 cents more than one month ago and 21.2 cents higher than one year ago.
The falling pump prices follow a nearly 30 cents per gallon decrease in the wholesale price of California-blend gasoline on the New York Mercantile Exchange early last week.
Analysts said the completion of maintenance at refineries in Southern California and Northern California helped end record-low inventories, ushering in lower wholesale prices.
