Photos: Marina del Rey Boat Parade Winners

Thousands of people attended the 50th anniversary of the Marina del Rey Boat Parade.

The festivites on Saturday for the 50th annual Marina del Rey Boat Parade kicked off with fireworks, followed by hundreds of boats parading around the harbor.

Parade judges gave out awards for categories including best music, best lights and best animation.

The boat parade has been an annual tradition since 1963, when only a handful of boats participated.

The grand marshall for the 50th anniversary was Kerri Walsh Jennings, three-time Olympic gold medalist in beach volleyball.

Hundreds of boats? Doubtful that we saw even 100.

Thank Glenn E. Grab for taking the time to send an answer. I agree with you, it would be blue IRead More think. I would like to hear from someone who has the same problem, there are hundreds of boats with this spray. Now having said this, we have now come up with a more rational reason. It's the pollen, not bee pollen, but tree pollen. Makes sense as it does only happen once a year. Searching for answers, this makes a little better sense.
