MDR Sheriff's Station Holding Free Document Shredding Event Saturday

Community members can shred confidential documents for free at the event.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Marina del Rey station will sponsor a free document shredding and identity theft prevention event this Saturday at the Ladera Shopping Center.

According to LASD, members of the public can bring bags or boxes of personal documents to the shopping center to be shredded by professional mobile shredding service SafeShred.

In addition, organizers said Sheriff's deputies will be on hand to offer tips on preventing identity theft.

While the shredding is free, deputies will be collecting donations to benefit the Special Olympics of Los Angeles, Marina del Rey Youth Athletic League, the Marina del Rey Explorers and other charitable organizations supported by the department.

The event will take place from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Ladera Shopping Center, 5315 West Centinela Avenue, Los Angeles. The event will be held in the parking lot of Ralphs, Ross and CVS shared parking lot.
