Motorcycle Race for Charity

First annual "Ride to the Dunes" happens Sunday.

"Ride to the Dunes" this weekend for a charitable cause.

The first annual "Ride to the Dunes" will kick off in Marina del Rey Sunday. Lorenzo Lamas will be the grand marshal of the event which is designed with motorcyclists in mind.

He and other celebrities are scheduled to participate in the motorcyle ride with the proceeds benefiting local charities.

"It's for a great cause," said organizer Cherry Hepburn. "We're recognizing four, different organizations that support abused children."

Bikers Against Child Abuse California, "The Children's Wall of Tears," "War Against Child Abuse," CASA of Los Angeles and CASA of Orange County are among the organizations that will benefit from the 65-mile race, she said. The race will culminate with lunch and a concert at Newport Dunes Resort in Newport Beach.

Registration is at 8:30 a.m., and the race will begin at 10 a.m. Sunday at at 4141 Lincoln Blvd.
