Nite-Write Event Draws Crowds

Next event is scheduled for June.

Nite-Write, a free multimedia art experience, drew crowds over the weekend in Playa del Rey.

The event, which took place Saturday night at Dockweiler Beach, gave people the opportunity to watch a black-light painting demonstration and help paint the side of a Mobile Mural Lab truck.

“It was a great event," said Carol Baker, a spokeswoman for the Department of Beaches and Harbors. "There was a small but steady trickle of participants at dusk, and then larger groups of people arrived as it got dark, and they saw the lights and glow paint."

Stories from some of the participants were also collected and will serve as a source of inspiration for a future mural.

Nite-Write was co-sponsored by the Mobile Mural Lab, the L.A. County Department of Beaches and Harbors and the L.A. County Arts Commission’s Civic Art Program.
