Possible New Farmer's Market at Glen Alla Park

Del Rey Neighborhood Council will vote at its next meeting.

A new farmer's market may soon be coming to the neighborhood.

The Del Rey Neighborhood Council's Planning and Land Use Committee passed a resolution to recommend a weekly farmer's market at Glen Alla Park.

"Glen Alla Park, since they put in the playground, has been a great treasure for Del Rey really," said Eric DeSobe, president of the Del Rey Neighborhood Council.

DeSobe said there is plenty of foot traffic in the area to support it, and the idea has already received positive feedback from local residents through the Del Rey Neighborhood Council's Facebook page.

"There's really a lot of excitement around a farmer's market," he said. "I think the community is definitely excited about it."

If the Del Rey Neighborhood Council officially votes in favor of the farmer's market at its next meeting June 14, the market could open by mid-July, DeSobe said. The committee proposes the farmer's market be held from 2-7 p.m. on Fridays.

2-7 on a Friday??? Why not on a Saturday when most people can enjoy it. Who gets home by 7pm with Friday traffic? Was this decision to exclude working class people?

This is a really exciting idea and great for the community but come on, make it accessible to most people, it only makes sense that it would also maximize profits for the vendors

Thank Glenn E. Grab for taking the time to send an answer. I agree with you, it would be blue IRead More think. I would like to hear from someone who has the same problem, there are hundreds of boats with this spray. Now having said this, we have now come up with a more rational reason. It's the pollen, not bee pollen, but tree pollen. Makes sense as it does only happen once a year. Searching for answers, this makes a little better sense.
