St. Patrick's Day Picks

Here are some things you can do to celebrate.

St. Patrick's Day is a day when many Americans – whether Irish or not – celebrate all things Irish. Check out some of these nearby St. Patrick's Day festivities:

Tony P's Dockside Grill is having a five-course Celtic Beer Dinner on Thursday at 7 p.m. that includes traditional Irish food such as corned beef & cabbage and Belfast bangers & mash and some nontraditional treats, including Celtic Nachos and a corned beef quesadilla. Cost: $55.

is having a St. Patrick's Day Spectacular and it's already underway. The Irish bar known for its turtle racing is going all out with an early 6 a.m. opening, green beer all day and indoor and outdoor music from noon to 2 a.m.

If you want to be counter-intuitive and go to a Mexican-themed bar, Cabo Cantina is having two for one drinks from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The nearby Venice Art Crawl is having a special St. Patrick's Day edition Thursday and while you're in the neighborhood you could throw down a green beer at James' Beach, which is also serving $4 corned beef sliders.

On Friday, there'll be a day after St. Patrick's Day celebration at the Westchester Recreation Center, 7000 W. Manchester Ave. The all ages event is presented by the recreation center, Otis College and the Los Angeles Fire Department and will feature food trucks, a campfire, Irish musicians and storytellers, games for the kids and it's free. The fun starts at 6 p.m. and goes until 9 p.m.
