St. Vincent Medical Center President Receives Award

The Marina del Rey resident is honored with "Healthcare Leadership Award."

Cathy Fickes, president and CEO of St. Vincent Medical Center, is the recipient of the 2013 Healthcare Leadership Award sponsored by the Los Angeles Business Journal.

The award is designed to pay homage to locals who have helped improve healthcare in Los Angeles.

Fickes, who has a background in nursing, is known to show such dedication on the job that she will even share her personal information with patients. She has also focused on building relationships in the community, including with the Korean community and helped develop the St. Vincent Spine Institute and the St. Vincent Cardiac Institute, according to Kirsten Holguin, St. Vincent Medical Center's marketing communication manager.

Fickes said she is honored to be recognized with such an award.

“It is a tremendous honor for me to receive this award because it validates the hard work of all the associates at St. Vincent Medical Center," Fickes said. "I am honored to represent the 1300 associates that take care of patients on a daily basis and fulfill the mission that our hospital was founded on which is to care for the sick and the poor.  It is my pleasure to lead a staff full of dedicated and compassionate people."
