Viewfinder: Sledding on the Sand Berms in Playa del Rey

This week's viewfinder captures activities on the sand berms in Playa del Rey.

Winter doesn't officially start until the Dec. 21 winter solstice, but the unofficial signs are already popping up, including the sand berms built on local beaches. The Los Angeles County Department of Beaches and Harbors recently started constructing winter berms to protect the coastline from winter erosion and higher tides.

The berms also provide for many new activities, a favorite being sledding. We capture some fun moments in the sand berms and hope you enjoy them.

As always, if you have your own photos of the sand berms and people enjoying them, feel free to upload and share with the community.
