Viewfinder: The Public Trail at Ballona Wetlands

This week, our exploration puts us on the path along the southwest corner of Lincoln and Jefferson boulevards in Playa del Rey.

This week, we continue the exploration of the Ballona Wetlands. At one time, the Ballona Wetlands stretched across more than 2,000 acres. Due to human neglect, abuse, developments and construction projects, however, the wetlands now include only 600 acres.

Many groups and activists are working to restore the wetlands and return it to its natural state, protecting the wildlife that still remains.

A public trail has been constructed along the southwest corner of Lincoln and Jefferson boulevards in Playa del Rey, and we took the opportunity to explore what it has to offer. We hope you enjoy the images of what we found, and stay tuned for more next week.
