Southern California Winter in Haiku with DEBORAH KELODIJ and WENDY WRIGHT

DEBORAH KELODIJ and WENDY WRIGHT will explore winter in California through a reading of their English language haiku. Many of the poems were written on a January 2009 road trip to Monterey Bay area. Their haiku will be accompanied by photography and electric guitar, played by Chris Wesley. Members of the Southern California Haiku Study Group will join them for a reading of a special winter-themed chapbook of haiku. 

DEBORAH KELODIJ is the moderator of the Southern California Haiku Study Group and a member of the Southern California Haiku Study Group. She has been writing haiku in English for over a decade. Her haiku has appeared in Modern Haiku, Frogpond, Mainichi Daily News (Japan), bottle rockets, South by Southeast, the Red Moon Anthology, A New Resonance 4: Emerging Voices in English Language Haku, and many other places.

WENDY WRIGHT has belonged to the Southern California Haiku Study Group from its earliest years. She is the Southern California Vice President of the Yuki Teikei Haiku Society, was one of the organizers of Haiku Pacific Rim 2002 in Long Beach, has co-edited the haiku group anthology, as well as the membership anthology for the Haiku Society of America. She teaches English composition at El Camino College. 

The Southern California Haiku Study Group was founded by Jerry Ball in Long Beach to study haiku in English. It currently meets at 2 pm on the 3rd Saturday of every month at the Pacific Asia Museum, 46 N. Los Robles, Pasadena, CA.
