Glowing Interactive Art Experience Heading To Playa Del Rey

Nite-Write will include digital drawings and luminescent paint at Dockweiler State Beach.

Correction: A previous version of this story listed the incorrect dates for two of the three upcoming Nite-Writes. The correct days are May 26, June 23.

Watch a black-light painting demonstration, project iPad drawings onto the world or help inspire a mural, all at the upcoming Nite-Write event at Dockweiler State Beach, May 26.

From 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., the free multimedia art experience will light up Parking Lot 2, 12000 Vista del Mar in Playa Del Rey.

Click here to see the downloadable flyer.

Some of the scheduled events include a live, ultraviolet painting demonstration by visual artist Black Light King, as well as interactive digital artwork by P&tAGB, a group of artist-performers.

Attendees will have also the chance to paint the side of the Mobile Mural Lab truck –owned by one of the co-sponsors of the event – and see their iPad drawings digitally projected across the landscape.

Visual artist Faith Purvey will listen to attendees’ stories and collect them to use as inspiration for a final mural, which will be painted on the nearby concession stand building.

The event is co-sponsored by the Mobile Mural Lab, the L.A. County Department of Beaches and Harbors and the L.A. County Arts Commission’s Civic Art Program.

Other Nite-Writes are scheduled for June 23 and Sept 29 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

For more information visit the “Nite-Write” event on Facebook or the the Beaches and Harbors fan page.

The event is free and open to the public. No reservations are necessary.
