Dead Body Washes Ashore Near Marina Del Rey Inlet

Firefighters pull the body onto the beach in Playa del Rey.

Homicide detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of an unidentified male whose body was found floating in the ocean south of the Marina Del Rey inlet Monday morning.

The body of the man, in his 60s, was discovered about 6:35 a.m. near the 6200 block of Ocean Front Walk, said coroner's Assistant Chief Ed Winter. Firefighters pulled the body from the water and onto the beach.

It was unclear if foul play was involved in the death.

According to Venice311, a blog that follows crime in the area, police appeared to be combing the area for evidence and an area along the jetty rocks was blocked off during the search.

The man's name was not immediately released.
