Gas Prices Inch Upward Again

Average prices are now at level last reached in July of 2008.

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose two-tenths of a cent today to $4.396 -- the highest amount since July 24, 2008.

The average price is 1.9 cents more than one week ago, 52 cents higher than a month ago and 43.3 cents greater than a year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

Following a decrease of two-tenths of a cent on March 5 that ended a 27- day streak of rising prices, the average price has increased seven of the last eight days, including one-tenth of a cent on Monday.

The Orange County average price rose three-tenths of a cent today to $4.38, the highest amount since July 23, 2008. It is 1.9 cents more than one week ago, 51.5 cents higher than a month ago and 43.2 cents greater than a year ago.

The Orange County average price has increased five consecutive days -- eight-tenths of a cent on Friday, seven-tenths of a cent on Saturday, and two- tenths of a cent both Sunday and Monday.
