Gastropub Coming to Marina del Rey

The restaurant will feature over 5,000 gallons of beer.

The Yard House, a gastropub restaurant, will open in the Marina Marketplace in the spring of 2013, a company spokesperson announced on Friday.   

Marina Marketplace, located at 13450 Maxella Ave., is currently undergoing a $25 million renovation, and recenlty saw the addition of in April. An AMC dine-in theatre is scheduled to open in November. 

"We are extremely excited to be opening up another coastal location in Southern California," Harald Herrmann, president and CEO of Yard House, said in a statement. "Marina del Rey has been on our list of possibilities for quite a while and I think Marina Marketplace will be a complementary fit for both our brand and demographic. We're looking forward to being part of the community and hiring a local team to help us with our opening when the time comes."

The 11,000-square-foot Marina del Rey location will feature native foliage, and designers said they are incorporating a casual beach lifestyle motif with some upscale touches into their plans.

The first Yard House opened along the Long Beach waterfront in 1996, and since then, the restaurant has opened in dozens of states. It typically features a center island bars and as much as 5,000 gallons of beer, with three to five miles of beer lines.
