Grand Opening: Equinox

Luxurious gym opens in Marina del Rey.

Equinox opened its doors on Monday in Marina del Rey, making it the 13th Southern California location for the East Coast-based gym.

The new 30,000-square-foot gym boasts three fitness studios, that include yoga, pilates, spinning, as well as some unique classes such as Barre Burn – a core rhythm workout using ballet movements.

"We're excited to help change people's lives," said General Manager Brian Decato. "And we look forward to a prosperous future."

The front desk is composed of used surf boards and directs people to an open atrium that houses weights and exercise machines.

“Equinox Marina del Rey continues our tradition of developing locally inspired and iconic facilities," said Vice President of Design Aaron Richter in a statement. "Fresh ocean hues are contrasted with sensuous tones of sun and beach, reminiscent of John Van Hamersveld’s classic Endless Summer silkscreen.”

The fitness center also includes a "Kids Club" that will supervise children while members work out, and a spa that offers deep tissue and sports massages.

Equinox is located at 13455 Maxella Ave.
