Hot Diggity Dog! Beachy Cream Adds Organic Beef Franks to Its Menu

The 1950s inspired ice cream parlor will give away free hot dogs to its first 100 customers on Nov. 3.

Beachy Cream stole our ice-cream loving hearts when it opened on Wilshire Boulevard this summer, serving up scoops of walnut and whiskey, candied ginger and strawberry balsamic.

As we move into the brisker days of fall, the 1950s inspired ice cream parlor is preparing to make summer last even longer. Founder Ann Ryan is adding to her menu of sweet and savory flavors a more unusual pairing: organic, gourmet hot dogs and chili dogs.

"In keeping with our theme of all things 'beachy,' plus our focus on organic, we thought it would be fun to add some really delicious hot dogs to our menu," Ryan said.

The hot dogs will be available starting Nov. 3.

The franks are 100 percent organic, grass-fed beef, served on an organic, gluten-free bun or a pretzel bun from Rockenwagner Bakery. Toppings will include house-made organic chili, cheese, sauerkraut, and a secret sauce.

Ryan said she was inspired by childhood memories of the Orange Julius hot dog stand in Westwood.

Beachy Cream is at 1209 Wilshire Blvd. It's open 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily.
