Marina Farms Market Building up for Lease

Although the owner was remodeling after a fire damaged the store, the building is now for lease.

After a fire ravaged the Marina Farms market last year, the store’s owner slowly began remodeling and hoped to reopen last fall, but the building is now up for lease for $12,500 a month.

The 6,000-square-foot building, located at 5454 S. Centinela Ave., is now completely empty and commercial realtor Bill Ruane, who represents the property, said the space became available two weeks ago.

The store’s owner, Gil Bautista, started remodeling in July 2012 and had hoped to open the store last September. That date was later extended to early December. The market’s phone has been disconnected for some time and attempts to contact Bautista were unsuccessful.

Six LAFD engines and two rescue units responded to the March 13, 2012 fire and firefighters put out the blaze in about 30 minutes. The market specialized in fresh produce, as well as meat and dairy products.
