3.8 Earthquake Hits Near Marina del Rey

Reported at 3:18 a.m., the epicenter of the quake was one to two miles east of Marina del Rey.

A 3.8-magnitude earthquake about two miles east of Marina del Rey jolted nearby communities early Wednesday morning.

At 3:18 a.m., the United States Geological Survey's real-time earthquake map showed the quake was 3.8, but a computer-generated USGS report had the magnitude at 3.7, according to City News Service.

An alert from the Los Angeles Fire Department said no major damage or injuries were immediately reported.
