Bruins and Hogs, Sunshine Back, Follow Us Socially

Bartels' Harley-Davidson motorcycle shop in Marina del Rey is showing its support for the UCLA women's basketball team with a ride to Pauley Pavilion for the big game against Stanford.

Today is Feb. 20. It is the 51st day of the year. We are under a waning gibbous moon. Sunset will occur about 5:43 p.m. Here are five things to know:

1. Did you know Hogs and Bruins get along? Yes, they do. Bartels' Harley-Davidson motorcycle shop in Marina del Rey is hosting a ride to UCLA this morning to support the No. 9 UCLA women's basketball team as they host No. 3 Stanford at Pauley Pavilion. Bartels' Harley-Davidson at 4141 Lincoln Boulevard opens at 9 a.m., the ride begins at 10 a.m and tip-off is at noon. The store has a limited number of free tickets for the big game.

UCLA Coach Nikki Caldwell earlier this month participated in "Pauley's Pink Ride," a motorcycle poker run sponsored by Bartels' Harley-Davidson. The event raised $3,000 for "Champions For A Cause," Caldwell's non-profit organization to help in the fight againt breast cancer.

2. The National Weather Service forecast for today calls for mostly sunny skies with a high near 57 degrees, with partly cloudy skies tonight and an overnight low of about 42 degrees. There's also a strong rip current at area beaches.

3. Did you know you can follow Marina del Rey Patch, which also covers Del Rey and Playa del Rey, on Facebook and Twitter?

4. We're creating a new Moms Council that we hope will range from the working mom to the stay-at-home mom to the stay-at-home dad to the PTA parents to the soccer moms. The Moms Council will use its motherly expertise to facilitate discussions about parenting and help guide parenting coverage for the site.
