Celebrating Fourth of July in Marina del Rey

A local guide to Independence Day.

Fourth of July Fireworks Show

The fireworks will be choreographed to music, which will be broadcast on FM radio KXLU, 88.9. The music will also be relayed on loud speakers at Burton Chace Park.

When: July 4 at 9 p.m. to approximately 9:20 p.m.

Where: Over the main channel in Marina del Rey. Best viewing spots include Fisherman’s Village, Burton Chace Park and Mother’s Beach.

Getting there: Parking is available in county lots throughout the marina for a $7 - $10 entrance fee and at Fisherman’s Village for $1 per every 20 minutes, $10 maximum.

A free weekend beach bus will shuttle people from Playa Vista to Marina del Rey and the Venice Pier from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. The last shuttle leaves Playa Vista at 7:15 p.m. And, the Marina del Rey WaterBus will provide shuttle service to seven locations in the harbor from 11 a.m. to midnight. The following streets will be under temporary closure on July 4, except for local access.

The bike path in the area of the UCLA Marina Aquatic Center boat ramp to the east side of La Ballona Creek Bridge is closed from 8:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. on July 4th. 

Boaters can cruise the marina to enjoy the show, but they will not be allowed to anchor anywhere and must keep a 420-foot distance from the barge.

 

Fireworks Dinner Cruise

When: July 4 at 7 p.m.

Where: Fisherman’s Village 

A 3-hour, 4-course dinner cruise with drinks and live music. $92.95 per adult. Discounts for children, seniors and military. Menu.

 

Fireworks Observation Cruise

When: July 4 at 8 p.m.

Where: Fisherman’s Village

A 2-hour cruise with wine and cocktails. $59.95. Discounts for children, seniors and military.
