Cloudy and Foggy, Tax Day and Life-Saving Tips

The National Weather Service says it's going to be cloudy and foggy tonight and tomorrow.

Today is April 18. It is th 108th day of the year. We are under a full moon. Sunset will occur about 7:29 p.m. Here are five things to know:

1. The National Weather Service forecast for this afternoon calls for partly cloudy skies with a high near 61 degrees with patchy fog and a chance of drizzle after 11 p.m.. The overnight low tonight should be around 57 degrees.

There's a chance of drizzle and patchy fog before 11 a.m. Tuesday, otherwise it should be mostly cloudy with a high near 61 degrees.

2. Playa del Rey resident Phil Jackson and the two-time defeding champion Los Angeles Lakers got off to an inauspicious start in defense of ther back-to-back titles. The Lakers lost yesterday, 109-100, to the New Orleans Hornets at Staples Center in their first playoff game. The best-of-seven series picks up again Wednesday night at Staples Center.

3. It's Tax Day, don't forget to electronically file or mail in your taxes to Uncle Sam. The normal deadline is April 15, but it was extended until today because April 16 is Emancipation Day, a federal holiday in Washington, DC. It fell on a Saturday this year, so to give public employees their day off on Friday, the filing deadline was extended until today, with most states, including California, following suit.
