Cloudy, Killer Shrimp and Remembering a Neighbor

More June gloom on the way, but our weekend planner can help brighten things up.

Today is June 17. It is the 168th day of the year. We are under a waning gibbous moon. Sunset will occur about 8:08 p.m. Here are five things to know:

1. The National Weather Service forecast for this afternoon calls for mostly cloudy skies with a high near 62 degrees with patchy fog and clouds tonight and a low temperature of around 58 degrees. Forecasters expect patchy fog Saturday morning, before gradually clearing to become mostly sunny with a high near 63 degrees.

2. Killer Shrimp is coming back. We recently noticed a Killer Shrimp sign at the vacant building on Admiralty Way in Marina del Rey that used to be the home of the Waterfront Restaurant. The old Killer Shrimp at 523 Washington Blvd. was a local favorite until it closed more than a year ago. The new sign says Killer Shrimp will return as a restaurant and bar.

4. Our Patch blogging team offers up a remembrance of a Marina del Rey neighbor and fellow dog walker who writer Demetrios J. Deligiorgis at first thought might be a Sleestak on Speedway, while the writing duo of Phyllis Goldberg and Rosemary Lichtman reflect on Weinergate and how it can be a teachable moment for your family.
