Daylight Saving, Mostly Sunny and Tattoo Contest

Today is the start of daylight saving time, so move that clock forward if you don't want to be late.

Today is March 13. It is the 72nd day of the year. We are under a first quarter moon. Sunset will occur about 7:10 p.m. Here are five things to know:

1. Daylight saving time started today. If you've been late to stuff, set your clock ahead an hour.

2. The National Weather Service forecast for today calls for mostly sunny skies with a high near 61 degrees with partly cloudy skies and an overnight low around 51 degrees. It should be mostly sunny tomorrow with a high near 66 degrees.

3. Playa del Rey resident Phil Jackson and the two-time defending champion Los Angeles Lakers finished their four-game road trip last night with a 96-91 win at Dallas. The Lakers went 3-1 on the road and play the Orlando Magic tomorrow night at Staples Center.

4. Bartels' Harley-Davidson motorcycle shop in Marina del Rey and 93.1 Jack FM radio are conducting a tattoo contest this month with the top vote-getter winning a Harley-Davidson Fat Boy. The deadline is 5 p.m. today and all the details are right here.

5. Did you know you can follow Marina del Rey Patch, which also covers Del Rey and Playa del Rey, on Facebook and Twitter?
