Del Rey Neighbors Meet Police, Heal the Bay Fundraiser and Homepage Redesign

The National Weather Service predicts a high near 71 degrees today and 82 degrees Thursday.

Today is March 30. It is the 89th day of the year. We are under a waning crescent moon. Sunset will occur about 7:14 p.m. Here are five things to know:

1. The National Weather Service forecast for this afternoon calls for sunny skies with a high near 71 degrees with clear skies tonight and a low around 56 degrees. Forecasters predict sunshine Thursday with a high near 82 degrees.

2. Latitude 33 is hosting a fundraiser from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. in which surfboards painted by artists will be auctioned off with 70 percent of the proceeds benefitting Heal the Bay. The participating artists include: Damon Johnson, Greg Miller, Muramasa Kudo, Tony Larson, Deedee Cheriel, Man One, Scott MacDonough and JRF. Local roots rock favorite The Makepeace Brothers will perform a live acoustic set and local shops are providing culinary treats. 330 Washington Blvd, Marina del Rey.

3. The Del Rey Homeowners and Neighbors Association holds their spring general meeting tonight that will feature a chance for residents to meet some of the top brass of the Los Angeles Police Department's Pacific Division. The featured panelists will include the division's newly-appointed commanding officer, Capt. Jon Peters; Del Rey's new Senior Lead Officer, Marcy Garica and interim Senior Lead Officer Joe Cruz as well as Lt. Armando Farias of the Los Angeles Unified School Police. The meeting will also include an election of board officers. DRH&NA General Meeting, 12448 Braddock Dr. at the Venice Japanese Community Center, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Free.

4. The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously yesterday to have the office of Emergency Management prepare a report in the next 30 days on the feasibility of a tsunami siren warning system for the county. You can read about it right here.
