Discover Marina del Rey: Music, Boats and Pumpkins

The family-friendly event will be celebrated Sunday in Burton W. Chace Park.

On Sunday, Marina del Rey residents and visitors can celebrate the boating lifestyle and their community at the Discover Marina del Rey day.

The free community event will feature music, food, a boat show and plenty of activities for kids. The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary will perform an air-sea rescue demonstration at noon and kayaking will be offered for children and adults as well as standup paddle board classes.

Other events include a simulated diving experience in the California ocean by the L.A. County Natural History Museum’s Seamobile and fishing off the Burton Chace Park dock for kids ages 7-15. And, there will be a pumpkin patch where kids can pick their own to carve this Halloween.

Admission is free to Discover Marina del Rey, which will be held on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Burton Chace Park, located at 13650 Mindanao Way. Some events however, such as inflatable rides and access to the pumpkin patch, require a $5 wrist band.

New for this year, there will also be an in-water boat show and plenty of marine-related information booths with U.S. Coast Guard, L.A. County Fire Department and lifeguard demonstrations. The public will be able to board vessels offered by sailboat and powerboat brokers.

Event parking is available for $8 in county lots #77 and #4, located at 13560 and 13500 Mindanao Way, respectively.

For event information, visit marinadelrey.lacounty.gov or visit the Beaches and Harbors Department’s Facebook page.

I'm so glad you added that comment, and that I read the comments (since the headline says it hasRead More opened). I was all excited to walk up and try it tonight, which would have been a bummer. Looking forward to trying it.
