Hazy Skies, Coastal Commission Meets and Blog for Us

The California Coastal Commission starts its three-day meeting in Marina del Rey by swearing in three new members.

Today is June 15. It is the 166th day of the year. We are under a full moon. Sunset will occur about 8:08 p.m. Here are five things to know:

1. The National Weather Service forecast for this afternoon calls for hazy skies with a high near 62 degrees with patchy fog tonight and an overnight low around 59 degrees. Forecasters expect more of the same Thursday with patchy fog in the morning followed by a mostly cloudy afternoon with a high near 63 degrees.

2. The California Coastal Commission is meeting in Marina del Rey and three new members were sworn in today. The commission later this year will consider a major redevelopment plan for the marina and already has been hearing opposing views on the plans at this three-day meeting.

3. A power outage hit about 985 customers in Marina del Rey this morning around the intersection of Panay and Admiralty ways, according to information on Southern California Edison's outage center website. No further information was immediately available.
