Marina del Rey Unemployment Rate Much Lower than County’s

Los Angeles County unemployment rate decreased from last year.

The unemployment rate in Marina del Rey was 6.5 percent in July, compared to 11.2 percent for Los Angeles County, according to the latest California Employment Development Department numbers.

In July 2011, the county unemployment rate was slightly higher at 12.5 percent, as was Marina del Rey’s at 7.3 percent.

Currently, there are about 400 people seeking employment in Marina del Rey out of a labor force of 6,700.

A total of 540,000 people were unemployed in July in Los Angeles County, which has a labor force of about 4.84 million.

Statewide, about 2 million people were out of work in July, the same as in June.
