The race to replace Rep. Jane Harman (D-Venice) in the 36th Congressional District started shaping up with an online forum that featured four of the candidates. The Daily Breeze had a story on the forum, which was organized by a progressive political network called the Courage Campaign  The deadline to submit nominating papers was Friday and 18 candidates filed to appear on the ballot.

California Assemblywoman Betsy Butler (D-Marina del Rey) voiced her support for an anti-bullying law that lawmakers passed, stating that bullies once ordered her autisitc son to lick a toilet at school. The Associated Press reported on the law in a story that appeared in the San Jose Mercury News.
