MLK Day Closures Scheduled for Monday

President Ronald Reagan signed MLK Day into law in 1983.

The United States Postal Service offices, banks and most federal offices are closed Monday in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

City and county offices, including libraries, also are closed today and students are off.

Often referred to as MLK Day, the federal holiday is observed on the third Monday in January each year. It is scheduled to take place around the time of King's birthday, Jan. 15.
