New Boat Sewage Pump Program Available

Pilot program to encourage adequate boat sewage disposal.

A new free 3-month pilot program for boat sewage disposal is available to Del Rey Yacht Club members.

The trial period will run from April to to June, and is meant as a way to encourage boaters to propely dispose of their waste. With enough interest, the service will become permanent at the Del Rey Yacht Club and possibly for other boaters.

Honey Pot Unlimited is running the program with funds from the California Department of Boating and Waterways and in conjunction with the Santa Monica Bay Restoration Commission.

The program is a continuation of Honey Pot Day, which began in 2009 to offer individual boaters a one-time free mobile sewage pumpout. Over 700 boaters used the system between 2009-2011 and about 14,000 gallons of sewage were disposed properly.
