Old Glory Mystery, Weekend Planner and Cloudy Skies

Today is April 21. It is the 111th day of the year. We are under a waning gibbous moon. Sunset will occur about 7:31 p.m. Here are five things to know:

1. The National Weather Service forecast for today calls for mostly cloudy skies with a high near 59 degrees with a mostly cloudy night and an overnight low around 55 degrees. It should be cloudy Friday morning before gradually becoming mostly sunny.

2. Playa del Rey resident Phil Jackson and the two-time defending champion Los Angeles Lakers evened their playoff series with the New Orleans Hornets with a 87-78 win Wednesday night at Staples Center. Game Three is Friday night in New Orleans with tipoff set at 6:30.
