Traffic resumed at about 10:30 p.m. on both westbound and eastbound lanes of the Marina Freeway after a fallen phone line shut down the highway for about seven hours, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The fiber optic phone line, owned by Verizon, fell at approximately 3:12 p.m., and blocked the freeway in both directions at Culver Drive.
Department of Water and Power and Verizon workers arrived on the scene at about 5:34 p.m., and after almost five hours, raised the fallen wires that were obstructing the road.
