Partly Sunny, Whole Foods Donation and Beach Restrooms

The Whole Foods Market at National Boulevard and Barrington Avenue is donating 5 percent of net sales today to the Mar Vista Family Center in Del Rey.

Today is April 6. It is the 96th day of the year. We are under a waxing crescent moon. Sunset will occur about 7:19 p.m. Here are five things to know:

1. The National Weather Service forecast for this afternoon calls for partly sunny skies with a high near 61 degrees with mostly cloudy skies tonight and an overnight low around 51 degrees. There's a 20 percent chance of showers Thursday and an expected high of about 60 degrees.

2. Playa del Rey resident Phil Jackson and the Los Angeles Lakers lost last night, 86-85, to the Utah Jazz. The Lakers have lost two in a row after winning nine straight and 17 of 18 games after the All-Star break.

3. The Whole Foods Market at the intersection of National Boulevard and Barrington Avenue will donate 5 percent of net sales today to the Mar Vista Famiy Center in Del Rey. The center provides poor families with early childhood education and other services. The store is at 11666 National Blvd. in West Los Angeles.

4. Did you hear that the county's Department of Beaches and Harbors will be cutting back on restroom cleaning at county beaches due to budget constraints? You can read about that right here.

5. Did you know that you can follow Marina del Rey Patch, which also covers Del Rey and Playa del Rey, on Facebook and Twitter?
