Power Outage in Del Rey

About 3500 LADWP customers in Del Rey lost power for an hour this morning due to a fire on a transmission pole.

A power pole fire today resulted in an electrical outage of about an hour for some 3,500 customers in the Del Rey area of Los Angeles near Culver City.

The problem was reported shortly before 10 a.m. at Centinela Avenue and Braddock Drive, according to the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power.

Crews repaired the problem and were investigating the cause of the fire.

Brooks Baker, LADWP spokesperson told Patch that that a "small reaction" caused the fire on the pole, which crews took out of serevice so they could repair the damage and restore service.
