Rain Coming, Bike Week and Election Central

The National Weather Services says it's going to rain Tuesday and there's a chance of showers Wednesday, too.

Today is May 16. It is the 136th day of the year. We are under a waxing gibbous moon. Sunset will occur about 7:50 p.m. Here are five things to know:

1. The National Weather Service forecast for this afternoon calls for partly sunny skies with a high near 65 degrees with rain likely after 11 p.m. and an overnight low around 51 degrees. The forecast for Tuesday calls for rain with a high near 64 degrees and a 40 percent chance of showers Wednesday, too.

2. Let's go pedal power. This week is Bike to Work Week when people are encouraged to get out of their cars and onto their bikes to get to work. Los Angeles Metro has details on Bike Week right here, which includes a Blessing of the Bicycles on Tuesday at Good Samaritan Hospital downtown and Bike to Work Day on Thursday. Are you observing Bike Week? If so, tell us how in the comments.

3. Boating columnist Paul M.J. Suchecki talks to We ARE Marina del Rey about the fate of the marina in light of an upcoming hearing before the California Coastal Commission and says time is running out for small boaters. Learn more right here.

4. There's an election Tuesday to fill a vacant seat in the 36th Congressional District. Learn more about the candidates at our Campaign Central.
