St. Bernard High School Will Host Community Open House

St. Bernard High School is opening its doors next week to the public. The school will host an open house to inform local residents about new upgrades that are coming to the Playa del Rey campus.

"With so many renovations coming to the school this summer, it is a great time to have a mini open house for our community members,” Principal Cynthia Hoepner said.

While parents with children in middle school are especially encouraged to attend, any member of the community is invited. It is all part of St. Bernard High School’s way of being a “friendly neighbor," Hoepner said.

"In many ways, St. Bernard is tucked away in beautiful Playa del Rey, but this is all the more reason to invite families in,” Hoepner said. “Our hope is simply to remind families who we are, our faith-based mission, and our commitment to excellence in academics and all co-curricular activities. We can't wait to show everyone the architect plans now and invite them back in the fall to see the finished product."

The plans include a new computer lab, a new student union, a new College Center and remodeling of the chemistry and biology labs as well as renovating the school’s main office and library, according to Hoepner. Construction is scheduled to begin next month.

St. Bernard High School's open house will take place at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 23, in the school’s library. It will include a one-hour tour as well as an invitation to a dance recital at the school which is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.

The school, located at 9100 Falmouth Avenue, is also celebrating its 55th anniversary this year.
