Storm Coming, Lakers Staff Beach Cleanup and Blog for Patch

The National Weather Service says a storm is moving into the region and will bring rain and showers for a couple of days.

Today is Nov. 10. It is the 314th day of the year. We are under a full moon. Sunset will occur about 4:54 p.m. Here are five things to know:

1. The National Weather Service forecast for this afternoon calls for partly sunny skies with a high near 77 degrees with mostly cloudy skies tonight and an overnight low around 53 degrees. Forecasters say there's a 30 percent chance of rain on Veterans Days and showers are likely Saturday morning. More details right here.

2. While the NBA owners and players continue labor negotiations, the Lakers staff recently helped clean up Dockweiler State Beach in Playa del Rey along with Heal the Bay. More details right here.

3. State Sen. Ted Lieu, D-Torrance, and Assemblywoman Betsy Butler, D-Marina del Rey, have been named Legislators of the Year by the Vietnam Veterans of America, California State Council (VVA-CSC). The annual award is given to lawmakers who have supported California’s veterans and their families during their service as California legislators.
