Sunny Afternoon, Be Ready Expo and The Rapture

A Christian radio broadcaster has predicted May 21 is Judgment Day when the Rapture will occur and God's selected people will be taken up into Heaven.

Today is May 21. It is the 141st day of the year. We are under a waning gibbous moon. Sunset will occur about 7:54 p.m. Here are five things to know:

1. The National Weather Service forecast for today calls for partly sunny skies this afternoon with a high near 63 degrees with a chance of drizzle after 11 p.m. and an overnight low near 62 degrees.

A gale watch also has been issued for strong winds expected to develop over the outer waters through Sunday that could include gusts up to 35 mph, posing a significant risk for all small watercraft. There also a high rip current risk, so be careful out there.

2. The Be Ready Expo is being held today at Burton W. Chace Park in Marina del Rey from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and focuses on emergency preparedness for residents of Marina del Rey and Venice. More details right here.

3. Today is apparently Judgment Day, according to Christian radio broadcaster Harold Camping, who has predicted today as the date the Rapture would occur. He previously said it would occur in September 1994. Twitter, of course, has jumped all over the Rapture and our favorite end-of-the-world favorite hashtag so far is #RaptureDayConfessions.

We also like this handy flowchart that will help determine if you'll be Raptured or not.
