Sunny Afternoon, 'Dragon' Movie and Blog for Patch

The National Weather Service says it will be sunny this afternoon and Thursday too, with highs in the upper 70s.

Today is July 6. It is the 187th day of the year. We are under a waxing crescent moon. Sunset will occur about 8:10 p.m. Here are five things to know:

1. The National Weather Service forecast for this afternoon calls for mostly sunny skies with a high near 77 degrees with partly cloudy skies tonight and an overnight low around 65 degrees. Forecasters say it should be mostly sunny Thursday with a high near 76 degrees.

2. The Neighborhood Council of Westchester/Playa approved $500 in funding for a free movie night July 16 at Del Rey Lagoon Park in Playa del Rey. Organizers say they likely will screen the DreamWorks animated film How to Train Your Dragon. Details right here.

3. The Los Angeles Police Department arrested a suspect with two bikes thought to be stolen. Police are looking for the owners of the bikes. Details here.
